How Can Earn Money by Teaching English?

What's going on everybody last week I applied to a job to teach English to kids in China with Q kids and it's a cool setup it allows you to kind of work on your schedule at a minimum of 6 hours a week you can work remotely and make between 16 and 20 dollars an hour doing so and it really doesn't cost you much expense wise to do this it's a fun set up that looks pretty entertaining so I'm going to walk you through how to apply and what exactly the job seems like with Q kids you teach English to Chinese students age 4 through 12 and all of these lessons are preplanned.

They're 30-minute lessons and you teach these lessons with fun stories
and cute little characters so it's something fun to do and a lot you know more enjoyable then a lot of other gig economy jobs out there now when you're hired on its a six-month contract with a chance for renewal after that six months is up now as I mentioned earlier you make between sixteen and twenty dollars an hour and that breaks down to eight dollars per lesson which takes about 30 minutes each and there's also a four dollar pay for standby lessons which are when you're not teaching and that's just about ten minutes when you're waiting around now there are some incentives if you get a useful review of every lesson.

You can make up to $1 for a positive review and once you've given 15 lessons a week you can makeup to $1 for every an experience that you provide, and that's just a little attendance bonus so when you do the math on that average is about 16 to 20 dollars per hour which are pretty good in those earnings you don't have a lot of expenses for those a lot of other gig economy jobs you're driving around in a car and you
might be putting some wear and tear on your vehicle some depreciation but in this job you're just using your laptop and it doesn't take all that much to get started so I'm going to go through the requirements what exactly it takes to apply and what my experience was like in that application process so when I asked on the q-kidz website.

I will give you a website link at the end of the article it took a little bit less than 30 minutes for me, it was a straightforward application the process now when I applied they asked me a few questions, first of all, they wanted to make sure that I had a laptop that was new enough and had the right software to run them programs and what they're looking for is either a PC that runs a Windows 7 or a MacBook that is OS operating in software the version I believe 10.10 or newer so they're not like necessarily requiring you have the latest computer it just has to be kind of new enough to run a relative software, so it's you know if you have a computer or a laptop that's a few years old you can meet these requirements on the application you can also attach a resume which is optional and I did not attach a resume.

When I applied, and I still got through that part of the interview so it's not something that you need to do, and you're also kind of requested to share a little bit about your teaching experience they want you to have some but it's vague here so I listed that I've previously coached a basketball that in the past I had taught swim lessons and kind of babysat kids when I was younger and also that I'd created a few online courses so nothing crazy I wasn't ever a teacher I don't have any real teaching experience.

but I have stuff that I can draw from another requirement is that you have a college degree now this is vague as well it can be from any university unique you have to have a degree now they also request that you make a two-minute video and for some people this can you know seem like a lot but do remember that you are going to be teaching in video format, so it's something that you have to get used to and for me, I've put up enough videos that it was easy for me I didn't do much prep work I just made a quick introduction of myself in the video and then they had me read off a children's story so I just looked up a story.

I think I did like the Three Little Pigs and I just read from my cell phone in the video I made it in two minutes sent that in and then they got back to me within that a day so when they got back to me, they disclosed some information that wasn't available about their application process and essentially what they told me is that I needed to create a plan to get either a TEFL course is taken or a TESOL course took and essentially what those do is they credit you with the ability to teach English as a second language to kids.

Republic of China requires that in 2019 so they didn't ask that I know necessarily had this certificate before starting they just asked me to give them a rough idea of when I could get this certificate and kind of you know to provide them with a plan to understand that in the next few months so at first, this came as a surprise and there are definitely certificate programs and courses out there that cost hundreds and you know even a couple of thousand dollars But if you look around you cheap courses out there.

I found one as low as $76 it was a 40-hour course for the elementary level, so it seems like it'd be enough for this job and you know relatively easy to do in the span of things, this is your only expense so definitely not a big request here and once again it was a soft offer they didn't make this necessarily a requirement to apply you just have to come up with a plan you know to take that course and to get those credentials eventually so it's not something that's required upfront so overall.

Here's my take on the program this seems like a good alternative for someone who's working in the gig economy and looking for an online or a Moute gig that you know lets them have some flexibility in their schedule.

As I mentioned you can teach as little as six hours a week and the earnings are good with between sixteen and twenty dollars per hour you're making you know a significant chunk here it's definitely something that's worth your time and it sounds like it could be a fun gig it's also important to notice that the expenses are meagre that teaching certificate if you do go the route of getting it is the only real the cost that you have here and you know when you compare that to other gigs jobs when you're depreciating a vehicle or putting your other assets at play you have a low expense level here so it's something that is worth taking a look into if you're finding that your expenses are much higher in other gig jobs out there.

The Galaxy Note 10 Signals the Death of the Headphone Jack on Smart Phones

When the Galaxy Note 10 was announced on Wednesday, Samsung talked about its new design, updated cameras, and even introduced a second, larger model called Note 10 Plus. But one thing that was never mentioned (except the Galaxy Fold) was that the Galaxy Note no longer had a headphone jack. The slide shown on the cavernous screen of the Unpacked event stage shows the bottom of the Note 10 with a USB-C port, S-Pen, and speaker grille. There were no signs of a headphone jack.

If Galaxy Note 9 were launched without it a year ago, that would be great news. But in 2019, when Apple does not sell any new iPhone models with a headphone jack, and companies such as Google, OnePlus and Huawei took them off their flagships, it is not surprising that the Galaxy Note 10 does not. More importantly, this move by Samsung signals the end of the phone's headphone jack, as we know it. I wish that in its place there was the same universal standard, which would also be affordable.

We still cannot use one for a 3.5 mm audio jack, because brands such as LG and Motorola are always on the new phones. In 2016, Motorola removed the headphone jack from its Moto Z phone to bring it back to this year's Moto Z4. But removing Samsung from Note 10 is like turning the first page of the last chapter of a book. Now, inevitably, most phones will never have them again.

The headphone jack has been one of the longest-running and widely used standards in consumer products and gadgets. You can connect the same pair of headphones to the Galaxy Note 9 as to the iPhone 6S, Nintendo Switch, Mac or laptop, as well as literally hundreds of other devices. Decades before the advent of the iPod and the advent of smartphones, the only keys needed for headphones were either a quarter-inch adapter for high-end stereo systems or a 2.5-millimeter adapter found in small electronics such as a pocket-sized transistor radio.

Keys and adapters are now commonplace, especially if you are hoping to use the same pair of headphones on multiple devices. And, no matter how annoying the keys are, the inconvenience of their use is hidden by the fact that the company does not have a new single universal standard that would replace the headphone jack.

Apple's wired headphones have a lightning connector, while almost all Android phones use a USB-C headphone or USB-C dongle. But USB-C is not the same for all phones, because at some point the audio needs to be converted from a digital signal to an analog one. Sometimes this happens on a smartphone, such as the LG G8 and V50, which both have a built-in 32-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC). In other cases, this can happen in the vein itself. To complicate the situation, some phone manufacturers have introduced proprietary features in their USB-C port. For example, the noise reduction features on HTC mean that the USB port is only compatible with the HTC key. And I won’t even go into active or passive adapters.
Then there is Bluetooth. Everything, even my toothbrush, has Bluetooth. So it is definitely universal. And that could be an excellent alternative to the 3.5mm jack. He definitely gets bonus points for eliminating cables. But the problem with Bluetooth headphones is not necessarily related to the connection or sound quality, which seems to improve every year. This is the price.

Apple AirPods costs $ 199 - one case costs $ 79. Google has Pixel Buds, but they cost $ 159. And Samsung has its Galaxy Buds, which cost $ 130. But where is the “cheap” pair of Bluetooth headphones that Apple or Samsung include?
At Walgreens, you can buy sports headphones with a Bluetooth neck for $ 16. I can’t imagine that they sound as good as AirPods, which have decent sound quality but not very good. You can literally buy a dozen pairs of inexpensive Walgreens Bluetooth headphones for the price of one pair of AirPods. Do AirPods sound 12 times better? Probably no.

But let's get back to the Samsung Unpacked event on Wednesday. The company said the decision not to include a headphone jack was to free up physical space inside the phone for more battery power. Samsung also said that 70% of Galaxy S and Note owners did not use a headphone jack, as more people are switching to wireless headphones. But let's take a little time and pay tribute to the fact that Samsung finally abandoned the headphones. Since its debut in the 1950s, this small piece of technology has gained pretty good experience.
